The highly successful lunchtime organized by Barocco Foundation has prepared a special programme for the festive season by having three remarkable sopranos to sing during the Festive season. These are Dorothy Baldacchino, who will be singing on the 22nd of December in A Time to Rejoice!; Soprano Charlene Portelli who will be singing on the 29th December Arias for the Festive Season; and soprano Marita Bezzina who will be singing The Ave Marias on the 5th of January 2016.
The forthcoming event presents Dorothy Baldacchino who is a talented and established artist she has made a name for herself in Malta for her clear and beautiful soprano voice. She will be giving a recital of Christmas arias, which sets the scene for a serene and peaceful Christmas.
Ms. Baldacchino will be singing some of the timeless and classical Christmas arias and carols, such as Adams O Holy Night, Pietro Yons Gesu` Bambino and the Italian traditonal Christmas Carol Tu Scendi dalle Stelle. The performance will also feature the traditional Silent Night which was written by Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber and has been since translated into more than 300 languages.
Ms.Baldacchino will be accompanied by the pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa, a gifted accompanist and musician.
The venue, the baroque Oratory, was originally the friars refectory. Over the years, it had been transformed into an oratory, hence it is beautifully adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and monks benches. The lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to visit and enjoy the beautiful chapel.
The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email: baroccomalta@gmail
