Soprano Andriana Yordanova will be giving an impressive recital at a lunchtime concert to be held at the Oratory of St. Francis on Friday 15th January 2016 at 12:30pm. She will be accompanied on the piano by Irina Fedcenko.
In the pleasures of Heaven is a performance that will feature sacred arias and piano solos by four of Europes best composers: Mozart, Mahler, Beethoven and Brahms. The interesting blend of music of these four pilasters of the classical world is going to provide the audience with a stimulating and enjoyable experience at the Oratory of St Francis.
The programme includes Mozarts arias Laudate dominum and Tu virginum corona and Hallelujafrom Esultate Jubilate. Ms. Yordanova will continue the programme with Mahlers In the pleasures of Heaven wera joyous from 4th Simphony, Um Mitternachtand Ich bin der welt abhanden gekommen. It will also feature Beethovens popular piano piece Moonlight sonata, 1st movement and Brahms J. Intermezzo op.118, No.2
The lunchtime concerts are aimed at giving a platform to local and foreign artists and, it gives the opportunity for the audience to experience the charming oratory. The oratory has an interesting history as before the main church was enlarged in the beginning of the 20th Century, the large chamber was used as the refectory for the religious community. It was then transformed into an oratory, adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, a magnificent gilded altarpiece and original monks benches.
The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration.
