O Tuneful Voice!

O Tuneful Voice

The successful weekly lunchtime concert series at the Oratory of St. Francis in Republic Street, Valletta will continue on Tuesday 2nd February 2016 at 12:30pm. The regular performances present varied performers and musicians, offering sparkling and stimulating classical music on a weekly basis.

Hannah Bonnici is a talented artist who has made a name for herself in Malta for her clear and beautiful soprano voice.  Together with soprano Karmene Radovska, she will be giving a recital of arias composed by four great European composers: Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Joseph Haydn. The pianist Irina Fedcencko-Carbonaro who will be performing two piano solos by Brahms and Beethoven, will accompany the two sopranos.

Ms. Bonnici will be singing four endearing songs by Joseph Haydn: My mother bids me bind my hair; Fidelity; O tuneful voice and She never told her loveOn the other hand, soprano Karmene Radovska will sing Franz Schuberts songs:         Die Stadt; Seligkeit and Robert Schumans   Frlingsnacht.

Irina Fedcencko-Carbonaro will be performing Johannes Brahms    Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 1 & 2 and Ludwig Van Beethoven   Moonlight sonata Op. 27 No. 2, Mov. 1.

The venue, the baroque Oratory, was originally the friars refectory.  Over the years, it had been transformed into an oratory, hence it is beautifully adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and monks benches. The lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to visit and enjoy the beautiful chapel.

The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email:
