Pianist Julia Miller will be giving a piano performance at the lunchtime concert at the Monastery of St. Augustine in Old Bakery Street, Valletta on the 16th of January 2018 at noon.
In Piano Timescapes Julia Miller will be performing piano works ranging from the 18th century to the 20th century, from Beethoven to de Falla, works that stylistically stretch from the classical to the romantic and to the modern Spanish 20th century music. She will be performing Ludvig van Beethovens Piano Sonata op.31 and a number of romantic works from Fredric Chopin, namely 3 Preludes from Op. 28; Fantiasie and Scherzo. Julia will also perform works by two of the most important Spanish composers, Albeniz and de Falla. She will perform Albeniz's Valse Cotillon and Manuel de Fallas Ritual Fire Dance.
After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to visit the interesting chambers of the monastery which are adorned with beautiful and historical sacred ornaments for free. Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration project of the Augustinian Monastery. Tickets, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins.
