Christabelle Formosa, a brilliant young soprano, is performing in The Voice of Spring in an eclectic programme encompassing a wonderful selection of operatic arias and songs. The lunchtime concert will be held at St. Augustine Monastery in Old Bakery Street, Valletta on Tuesday 10th April 2018 at 12pm.
The exciting programme highlights Bellinis Per Pieta` bel idol Mio, Handels Farewell ye limpid springs and floods and Vivaldis Un Certo non so che. The programme also includes two French works by Massenet from his opera Manon, namely Adieu Notre Petite Table and Duparcs LInvitation au Voyage. The performance ensues with an excerpt from Puccinis La Boheme, Quando men vo and Strauss renown Zueignung. The soprano will be accompanied by accomplished pianist Maria- Elena Farrugia who will also be playing two interesting solo piano pieces.
After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour of the remarkable monastery museum which showcases its striking, historical and sacred ornaments in the fascinating monastic chambers.
