The charismatic mezzo soprano Clare Ghigo joins pianist Julia Miller to celebrate some of the worlds most beloved and appealing songs and arias in a lunchtime concert at St. Augustine Monastery in Old Bakery Street, Valletta on Tuesday 8th May 2018 at 12 noon.
Clares repertoire spans from Bellini to Mahler. She will be singing Bellinis Vaga Luna, Debussys Mandoline and Beau Soir, and Respighis Nebbie. The programme ensues with an Mahlers Ich bin der Weld im abhanden gekommen and Rossinis Canzonetta Spagnuolaconcluding with Granadoss three arias El tralala y el Punteado, el Majo Timido and El majjo Discreto.
Clare has participated in various operatic competitions. Moreover, she won the Malta International Signing Competition, she was also a semifinalist of the Alfredo Kraus Vocal Competition, a finalist in the Hans Gabor Belvedere competition, and a Semifinalist in the London Handel Competition 2016.
Clare is also versatile recital artist and has performed for acclaimed singers such as Joseph Calleja, Bryn Terfel, Anna Tomova Sintova, Nelly Miriciu, Monserrat Caballe, Daniela Dessi, Richard Bonynge, Luciana Serra and with various ensembles, some of which are the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique, Guildhall Consort, VIBE, Rossini Ensemble, the Ensemble Telemaque and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she also toured China.
After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to appreciate a free guided tour of the interesting chambers of the monastery which are adorned with beautiful and historical sacred ornaments.
