A Flute Celebration

A Flute Celebration

Master of the flute Mro. Silvio Zammit and outstanding pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa will celebrate the closing of the lunchtime concert season with a flute and piano performance. The performance will present a delightful eclectic programme celebrating life and love. The performance will be held on Tuesday 19th June 2018 at St. Augustine Monastery in Old Bakery Street Valletta at 12 noon.

The flute duo will perform J.S. Bachs spiritual Adagio and three lively movements from CPE Bachs Sonata in E minor.  The programme ensues with the Spartacus Love Theme composed by Khatchaturian and Tchaikovskys June from The Seasons also known as Barcarolle, which was widely popular and appeared for various arrangements. The programme is given a Spanish twist with Granados Romantica and a German touch with Hasses Tambourin.  The final two pieces on the programme are two sprightly flute compositions: one is Greens Piccaroon Polka for Piccolo and Strauss Tritsch Tratsch Polka for Piccolo.

After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour of the interesting chambers of the monastery which are adorned with beautiful and historical sacred ornaments.

Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration project of the Augustinian Monastery. Tickets, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email:
