Superb tenor Alan Sciberras and brilliant pianist Sofia Narmania take the stage at St. Augustines Monastery in Old Bakery Street, Valletta, on 9th October 2018 for a lunchtime concert at 12 noon in another brilliant performance highlighting the works of operatic composers, mainly Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi.
Alan Sciberras will perform two splendid arias composed by Verdi, Dei miei bollenti Spiriti, an aria from La Traviata and Celeste Aida from Aida. These will be followed by two sparkling French arias, one of which is an excerpt from Gounods opera Faust and the other aria is an excerpt from Bizets brilliant opera Carmen. The last part of the performance is dedicated to the wonderful works of Puccini as the repertoire includes works from the operas Manon Lescaut, Tosca and La Boheme. Pianist Sofia Narmania is performing a number of piano solos to compliment the performance.
After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour of the remarkable monastery museum which showcases its striking, historical and sacred ornaments in the fascinating monastic chambers.
